Telephone service is being disrupted in part of New Hampshire and technicians are trying to pinpoint what is causing the problem and get a handle on how widespread it is.

Spokeswoman Jill Wurm said a fiber cable burned in Canterbury, affecting a Laconia switching station and long distance service from Canterbury and Laconia to the north.
